in championing rights for sex workers around the globe and highlight their campaign “Someone You Know is a Sex Worker,” aiming to put a face to a generally taboo subject that is no less important than any human rights inequality.

Stephany is also an avid political agitator, forcing the issues often left unspoken and unnoticed to be heard by local leaders; like sex workers rights, safe injection sites and overall LGBT causes that are in desperate need of attention.

There are those who inspire our community for the better through art, music, and philanthropic causes, and there are those like Stephany, who gets the most ignored or controversial issues and fights heard, while cultivating solutions for a better society. I wouldn’t be surprised if a decade from now, the name Stephany Joy Ashley is on a banner somewhere running for office.
